For Teachers: Preparing for a School Visit

Visiting schools is one of the joys of being a children's author.

Just a few requests, please.

My visit will be more meaningful to students if they are familiar with some of my work before my visit. Many school libraries subscribe to some of the magazines in which I have published work. Either of my books may be available to you to share with the students.

I prefer to talk to single or combined classes, with a maximum of 45 students at a time. I can do up to 4 school presentations a day. For a larger group, please check with me ahead of time to arrange microphones, etc.

I ask that at least one teacher be in attendance during my presentation.

In some workshops, I like to use an overhead projector if one is available.

If you plan to include book sales and autographing, please note:

• Order books 6-8 weeks ahead. (Timberrr currently unavailable from publisher, 4/07)
• When ordering, give the date of the intended visit.
• Indicate the books are for an author visit.
• Send a notice home with students, so they may come prepared with correct payment.
• On the day of my visit, please provide correct spelling of names for any books to be autographed.
